In brief: Facts and their interpretation; the risks and benefits of different courses of action, and the anecdotal evidence of those who have gone before you: this and more fall under the heading of advice. It is always a good idea to arm yourself with some good advice before plunging into an endeavor. Not everybody is in possession of the same facts, and people have different viewpoints. Some are more cautious, while others take a more expansive view. So, you may very well decide to get more than one opinion.
