Bachelor of Science in Health Science

  • Bachelor of Science in Health Science (HAV):
    1. Familiarize yourself with the major course requirements and sequence of courses, such that you can map out your plan for completing your Stony Brook degree. Always consult the Undergraduate Bulletin for requirements and course descriptions.
    2. Call 444-BSHS (444-2747) to make an appointment to meet with a BSHS academic advisor. During your appointment, you should review your transfer credits applicable toward the major and review the major requirements checklist. Bring official copies of any college-level transfer courses applicable to the major, as well as syllabi and course descriptions.
    3. Complete the Major Minor Declaration Form, which is included in this binder. Be sure and have the BSHS academic advisor sign the form.
    4. Submit the Major Minor Declaration Form to the Registrar’s Office, 276 Administration, and check your Stony Brook official transcript on the SOLAR system to ensure it was recorded correctly.

  • All Other Health Science Majors:
    1. Consider your upper-division major or graduate-level program options, including: Athletic Training, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Cytotechnology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Respiratory Care, and Social Welfare.
    2. Consult the Undergraduate Bulletin for requirements, course descriptions, course sequences, and admissions criteria. Visit the bins outside the Academic & Pre-Professional Advising Center, E-2360 Melville Library, for more detailed information on each health science major and program.
